November 4, 2017

Wow! I can't thank Roxanne, Lisa, and Sharon enough for a wonderful bang up retirement party. Thank you so much!

Senator Stan Rosenberg (President of the Massachusetts Senate) brought me two proclamations with the comment that, "This is the last free thing you will ever get from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts!"

But wait, there's more ...

During drinks, Trustee President Austin Sarat stopped by to give good wishes. He is the author of Gruesome Spectacles, Botched Executions. He teaches law at Amherst College.

Here is Senator Stan Rosenberg (President of the Massachusetts Senate) presenting me with the two certificates. Needless to say, I am thrilled.

Sharon Sharry, Director of the Jones Library says some very kind words and tells a story about a chicken.

Yes, this is THE chicken, immortalized on a pillow!

Chris Hoffmann, Trustee of the Jones Library (former Treasurer), said some very nice words as well. He is a computer scientist at UMass.

Not a bad crowd, huh?

Deb (left) and Emily did a bang up job of giving mini speeches. I could not be prouder of my daughters!

Sharon (middle) and I had a nice conversation with Bonnie Isman (r) who was the previous Director of the Jones Library (for 30 years). Bonnie is having great fun in her retirement and she is a great example to me!

Grace (Sister in Law on the Left) and Sherylann (Sister on the Right) drove from Methuen and stayed overnight. We had such fun!

Lisa (L) was a prime organizer and I'm sorry Roxanne isn't in the picture because she worked just as hard as Lisa on making all of the arrangements for the party. And everything was perfect!! Sharon helped too -- thank you, Ladies!

My Babies: Emily Paul and Deb

Retired Reprsentative, Ellen Story, is enjoying her retirement and a story from Atty. Robert Ritchie. Cathy V. is in the bacground, waving.

From the table decorations -- I LOVE fugi mums!

Also from the table decorations. The hydrangea are gorgeous.

Here are the potholders that Cathy V. made. She is so skillful! The little sewing machine is a music box that has all moving parts. That was from Sherylann. And the name tag is one of many that Roxanne skillfully created. I didn't take anybody else's name, but Sherylann saved hers too.

At home, I hung up some of my paintings in anticipation of the Sunday brunch.

The Statue of Liberty is a photograph by John Grant.

Emily did the painting of Puffer the Dog on top.
