I remember the year I explained it all to the girls and put a tiny menorah from my mother in law in the front window (facing the street). It fell over. It didn't burn the house down because, luckily, I had put it on a cookie sheet. 

I don't think I have had a real candle flame since. I use the battery operated 'candles.'
