Where have you been?
I thoroughly understand now how difficult it is to write something weekly or even daily. People I love to follow (who are more frequent writers than I am) are Tim Cotton (TC) who has written some books. TC has a very entertaining blog. I think his first was Detective in the Dooryard. TC Another is Jim Wright of Stonekettle Station. He's a bit of a renaissance man because he's not only an excellent writer, but also a fabulous photographer. And a very funny guy can be found if you Google "Gregisms." He's an elementary school teacher that has some really funny things that come out of kindergarteners, first graders, etc. I "met" these people via FaceBook.
But I wandered off ... oh, look, a squirrel! Today, and a few other days, I have been working on a quilt top, aka a flimsy.
The background above is actually the bottom. At this point, I'm done making patches!
No, I don't think this is going to cut it -- too many patterns put together for my taste.
As long as I can keep this orange to a dull roar, this is the basic idea. Before I tackle bordering the parts, I have to wind a bobbin. Maybe I'll do two!
I don't know who knows what so I will tell you: I hosted a surprise 95th birthday party for Mom. In order to make it a surprise, I told her it was for me and I held it on my birthday (Feb. 28) which is one week before her birthday (March 7). We had it in a room at the Mizell Senior Center in Palm Springs and 20 of us had delicious Italian food with Frank Sinatra in the background.
Thank you, Cricket for the birthday photos and the beautiful hand crafted birthday cards.
We went to the Greek Festival, of course!
I looked it up and the blue eye is a talisman to protect you from the evil eye (also known as malocchio in Italian). I just don't know that I'd like to look down at my slippers and see eyes looking up at me.
I know you have seen the sunrise on these mountains. Here's an everyday shot.
The Lunch Bunch (weekly quilting group) donated a dozen dog beds and as many kitty curtains to the Palm Springs (no kill) Animal Shelter. We took one day to make the dog beds which are filled with a ton of scraps. Some of us took a rotary cutter in each hand and sliced up the fabric scraps. Some stuffed the pillows, some sewed the original shape, some closed up the stuffed pillow. It was quite and assembly line. The kitty curtains are for their crate and it helps to decrease the stress on the cat. And a less stressed cat is less likely to get sick.

Oh my gosh, oh my gosh! I'll leave you with my reason for procrastination -- in exactly one week, we leave for Mexico! It's called the Copper Canyon tour and it runs from April 6 to the 16th. I'm very excited, especially since we get to meet Zorro!! We leave from Palm Desert and go to Arizona. The next day we cross the border at Nogales and continue to many stops from there.
!Hasta luego, amigos!
